How to Play Part 1 - The Basics
We recommend these steps to become a master on this game:
1) Start a training mission by pressing the Practice button.
2) Learn the green buttons. They are the throttle and the rudder. You can control those buttons from your keyboard keys A S D and W.
3) Using the green buttons (or A S D W which we recommend more), move your submarine around.
4) You can additionally use Q (reset throttle) and Z (reset rudder) buttons.
5) Watch your speed on the indicator at the left bottom side of the screen.
6) Learn the blue buttons. They are about depth adjustment. First learn the Periscope button (F on keyboard). This function will bring your submarine down to 60m depth (be patient, it takes some time for the submarine to dive) and extract your periscope so that you can see targets around.
7) Right next to the Periscope button you have the depth indicator. It shows your actual depth and your target depth. If you press on the depth indicator (or press G on the keyboard) it will stabilize your submarine's target depth at the actual depth.
8) So far, you must have noticed how complex it is to command a submarine :)
9) Press the Periscope button again and it will retract the periscope. You can toggle periscope state (retract/extract) by pressing the Periscope button.
10) Press the Surface button (R on keyboard) and it will set the target depth to 0 and make the submarine come to the surface.
Now you know the basics of starting a practice mission and controlling your submarine.
Next post will be about more advanced things.
