Tutorial 2 - Transmission Types and Driving Modes

The default driving mode of Infinite Overtake is Sport. When the game starts, you should see a button on the bottom right of the game screen which displays the "Sport" option. When you press this button you will see the four driving modes: Eco, Trip, Sport and Race.

Besides the driving mode, transmission type is another option you can choose. Transmission is the mechanism how your engine delivers power to the tires. By default, the game starts with automatic transmission. You should see a button on the bottom right of the game screen  which displays "Auto". You can press this button and choose other transmission types: Auto, Manual, and CVT. The Auto transmission automatically shifts gears. If you set it to Manual, you will have to shift gears using the A and Z keys. The A key shifts up, and the Z key shifts down. Your car has 8 gears plus the reverse gear. Z is also used to shift to the reverse gear.

If you switch to CVT transmission (Continuously Variable Transmission), a continuous range of transmission ratios will be activated instead of discreet gears. The RPM indicator will display a value from 1.0 to 8.0 which indicates an approximate transmission ratio. The CVT has the advantage of being less noisy and slightly more efficient at lower speeds.

Now, back to driving modes.

The Eco Mode:

When you switch to the Eco mode, your RPM indicator (the circular indicator showing numbers from 0 to 8 which indicates the rotation speed of your engine) will display your fuel consumption value (see the cyan colored number) in Liters/100km. The Eco mode attempts to use your engine power at its most efficient fuel levels. You can pay attention to your fuel consumption and try to keep it low as you drive.

Additional to the fuel consumption under the RPM indicator, your average speed under your speed indicator (again cyan colored number) will be displayed.

The Trip Mode:

The trip mode is very similar to the Eco mode except that it rides faster thus consumes more fuel. Both in Eco and Trip, the RPM indicator will display your fuel consumption and the speed indicator will display your average speed. These values will be completely different in the Sport and the Race mode.

The Sport Mode:

When you switch to the sport mode, your RPM will display your latest time lapse for your 0 to 100 km/h score in seconds. Also your speed indicator will display your top speed instead of your average speed.

In the Sport mode, your car will use the engine at its maximum power. You can test your 0 to 100 km/h time lapse by first coming to full stop and accelerating to 100 km/h and lastly reading the time displayed under the RPM.

The Race Mode:

The Race mode is almost the same as the sport mode except that the driving wheel is much more sensitive. In the race mode, you need to use your quickest reflexes to keep the car on the track. If you can master the Race mode, you will get the best performance from your car.
